| FBI seeking informants in the Twin Cities May 14, 2008 from midwestgreenscare.org Following is a statement from a person known to EWOK! (Earth Warriors are OK!, formerly the Twin Cities Eco-Prisoner Support Committee). This person was approached by the local JTTF and offered the possibility of being a paid informant. The individual has rejected the offer and now has an NLG lawyer. His statement should both inspire us for his refusal to cooperate, and remind us that he is probably not the only person solicited by the government in such a way and, unfortunately, we have to assume that some people will cooperate. "As I was biking back from court, my phone rang. I let it go to answering machine and checked it when I was off my bike. It was the police officer who I talked to about my graffiti. It said something like, "This isn't graffiti related but I need your help with something. You're not in trouble, give me a call." I give him a call. Something like this: "I'd like to meet with you today. It's not about graffiti." "I'm not going to rat anyone out, what do you want." Don't really know why I said that. I was nervous, I suppose. "Twenty minutes of your time. Where do you want to meet?" "I don't know, Eric, where do you want to meet? And can you tell me what this is about?" "I'll explain it when we meet. How about Expresso Expose?" "Sure." "When's good?" "How about 12:30." So now I'm antsy and confused. I get there fifteen minutes early and then he comes a bit late. He says, "This is my partner," and he referred to the woman next to him. They both got coffee, leaving me in my shaky, dumbfounded mental state even longer. Then we sat down and she flashes an FBI badge. Seeing my nerves they reassured me again that I was safe and not guilty of anything. Then for twenty minutes they flatter me about how my personality and appearance are perfect matches for what is required in some espionage dealio. They wanted me to crash vegan potluck parties and get into the inner circle of terrorists because supposedly terrorists are trusting and I'm "trusting, easy going, funny," and a bunch of other flattery. Every time they said "vegan potluck" I chuckled, but their faces showed they weren't kidding. They said "vegan potluck" half a dozen times. They really feared vegans and their violent conspiracies to blow up buildings in protest to the republican national convention. So after twenty minutes of bewildering suck-ups, they ask me if I'm in. They say there's compensation if I assist in someone's arrest. I say "ummmmmmm I'll pass." She says, "That was the fastest anyone has ever rejected me," and then tried for ten more minutes to get me to change my mind before saying, "Really: think about it. We could really use you.” Then she gave me a business card. On the back she wrote me her cell phone number. I said "you have very legible handwriting," and they both had themselves a hearty laugh. "Call if you change your mind. Don't tell any of your friends about this and don't show anyone this card." We said our goodbyes and I haven't heard from either of them since." |
According to media---"OPERATIONZS TALON NABS HUNDREDS OF FELONS IN OREGON" U.S. Department of Agriculture Inspector General Roger C. Viadero announced today that 205 fugitive felons in the Portland, Oregon, metropolitan area and outside counties have been arrested in "Operation Talon". Total arrests now top 5,000 nationwide.
"Operation Talon" was designed to hunt down and apprehend fugitive felons, many of them violent offenders, by matching them against government records of current and former food stamp recipients. "Operation Talon" nationwide has been characterized by innovative operations to lure offenders into custody, while avoiding violent confrontations. In Multnomah County, fugitives illegally receiving food stamp benefits were directed to schedule an appointment to meet with a program specialist at the Portland Federal Building. Undercover law enforcement officers arrested 35 fugitives when they reported for their appointments. Violent offenders were among those apprehended during Portland-area operations. The fugitives arrested included felons wanted for robbery, burglary, sex offenses and drugs.
As noted, the number of "assistance abusers" that the program actually netted was negligible, because that wasn't their real focus. Most of those who were arrested weren't even on public assistance. More likely than not, they were people found to be "associated" with the few people on the target list, probably culled from the profiling database of PPB, but once they get in the door, anything goes! Operation Talon is that "foot in the door", an end run around the search warrant procedures.
The Federal Marshals did, however, get a free chance to snoop around during these raids, evidently looking for "terrorist anarchists" evidence to confirm suspicions raised from the illegal surveillance PPB already had going. The only question is, did the Feds ask PPB for the info, or did the PPB "volunteer" it? It would not be the first time the PPB has fed misinformation to the Feds, or some other agency in order to harass one of their targets and avoid taking responsibility for their "errors". It is much harder and more expensive to sue the Feds than it is to sue PPB, not to mention that the Feds have more power than the peons---er, I mean PPB. | Military and Homeland Security Dictate Who Lives And Who Dies In A Pandemic Published on Monday, May 05, 2008. Source: Infowars - Steve Watson A new report compiled by a medical "task force" comprising physicians from prestigious universities, medical groups, the military and government agencies has outlined that specific groups of people should not be treated and be left to die should a flu pandemic or other deadly disease disaster infect millions throughout the USA. Doctors in the pay of federal government agencies including the Department of Homeland Security, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Department of Health and Human Services have concluded that the already ill, the weak, the severely injured and the elderly will have to "forgo" life. According to the report, which appears in the May edition of Chest, the medical journal of the American College of Chest Physicians, those who won't be treated will include: -> People older than 85. -> Those with severe trauma, which could include critical injuries from car crashes and shootings. -> Severely burned patients older than 60. -> Those with severe mental impairment, which could include advanced Alzheimer's disease. -> Those with a severe chronic disease, such as advanced heart failure, lung disease or poorly controlled diabetes. Designated hospital "triage teams" will ultimately decide who gets treated and who is left to perish. Dr. Asha Devereaux, lead writer of the task force report, told the AP when (our emphasis) pandemic flu or another widespread health care disaster hits." "the proposed guidelines are designed to be a blueprint for hospitals 'so that everybody will be thinking in the same way'. "Prior to the rationing of critical care resources, hospitals and surrounding areas must first experience a “trigger” event that includes a declared state of emergency and lack of critical equipment or infrastructure." the report states. "The decision to initiate emergency mass critical care (EMCC) must occur in conjunction with local and regional Medical Emergency Operations Command authority and not by individual hospitals." "If a mass casualty critical care event were to occur tomorrow, many people with clinical conditions that are survivable under usual health care system conditions may have to forgo life-sustaining interventions owing to deficiencies in supply or staffing," the report continues. "While the notion of rationing health care is unpleasant, the report could help the public understand that it will be necessary," a senior vice president at American Hospital Association, said. Critics and commentators have pointed out that the proposed rules are discriminatory and effectively exclude care for the poorest, most disadvantaged citizens in an emergency. Others have noted that the report may set a grim precedent for other disasters such as a repeat of a Hurricane Katrina type situation. We have previously reported on moves to use a disease outbreak as justification to suspend Constitutional rights. Last September we reported the fact that the World Health Organization and the U.N. have been handed control over response procedures in the event of a pandemic outbreak in the U.S. after an agreement was signed by President Bush at the 2007 Security and Prosperity Partnership meeting, bypassing congressional approval. The origins of the agreement can be traced back to 2005, when President Bush announced a new International Partnership on Avian and Pandemic Influenza to a High-Level Plenary Meeting of the U.N. General Assembly, in New York. In April of 2005 President Bush also added pandemic influenza to the list of diseases for which quarantine is authorized. China's zealous martial law tactics in dealing with SARS, home detention, curfews, mandatory vaccinations, restriction of travel, are the model for what could unfold in the US. The federal blueprint for the exact same scenario was released and picked up by the Associated Press a year earlier in 2004. This is a slow process of conditioning the public to accept mandatory vaccinations and restrictions on mobility under a rule of martial law. The ball started rolling back in 2001 when the Model States Emergency Health Powers Act was passed, which allows for total government takeover of every industry, vehicle, building, location, distribution process, you name it. And when this flu pandemic happens who will we blame? Surely not US scientists playing around with the deadly 1918 Spanish flu virus at "less than the maximum level of containment" according to the New Scientist magazine. |
| Police launch invisible tracking spray According to the United Press, The British Police have launched a new, invisible spray coded with a traceable DNA. Officials say the spray has a DNA print that can be picked up by special police scanners, right away, every time. The substance cannot be seen with the naked eye or washed off when applied to any surface. "Smart Water" can be tracked to a precise location by the trail that it leaves behind. Imagine the police being able to accurately track any bag of dope, or the dealer him/herself from where it originated to where it went. Or, following a shoplifter from the scene of the theft to the waiting buyers, or tracking an activist/terrorist (think blac bloc or ALF/ELF) back to their hidden meeting places. Wonder how this might fit into our 4th Amendment rights... |
